About the course
Cancer is one of our major national diseases and consists of about 200 different cancer diseases. The number of people who have or have had cancer in Sweden is estimated at almost 500,000. The number is rising, partly because we are living longer and the risk increases with age. More and more people are being cured, but many live with chronic cancer. By 2040, it is estimated that 630 000 people will be living with cancer.
Swedish research studies on MediYoga show that training provides effects of increased health-related quality of life, reduced pain, reduced blood pressure, increased sleep quality and improvement of self-rated stress, reduced anxiety/worry, improved emotion regulation and cost-effectiveness. International studies on mind/body interventions in cancer confirm and strengthen these results and also show that the right type of yoga training helps cancer patients regarding both disease symptoms and treatment symptoms, mainly regarding cancer-related fatigue, disease-related quality of life, pain, sleep, anxiety/worry and depression.
This in-depth course aims to give you as a graduate or certified in MediYoga an in-depth and specific knowledge of the application of MediYoga as a prevention and rehabilitation method in cancer. The advanced course is also useful for those who meet relatives of cancer patients.
MediYoga Institutet has developed a 12-week exercise program for people diagnosed with cancer in collaboration with the healthcare system.
